There are two major legislative bodies associatied with the Student Association. The Student Association Assembly is made up entirely of students to represent students. The Syracuse University Senate is a governing body of Syracuse University that covers areas as broad as defining curriculum and starting the process to award honorary degrees.
The Speaker is elected by their peers in the Assembly to lead the Assembly meetings. Among many responsibilities, the Speaker is expected to maintain Robert’s Rules of Order. The Speaker Pro-Tempore, essentially serving as the speaker’s deputy, serves as chair of the ROOF committee and works with chairs to coordinate the internal processes of the Assembly.
Students, faculty, and staff all serve together on the University Senate.
